WebOct 18, 2012 · I bought my 2003 Camry new. It had a really loud gurgling sound under the dash when I drove it home that first night. It sounded like I had a lake under the dashboard. I had to take it back to the dealer three times, but they finally fixed the problem. There was air in the cooling system. I still have the car. It’s been fine all these years now. The only thing I've heard make a "gurgling" sound is the heater core - but I think it's deep behind the center or right side of the dash.. and my car's heater has never uttered a peep.

Pull carpet up and look for a rubber tube up close to the dash towards the middle console. Move it up and down a little and then look for water draining out from under car in same area. Everybody seems to report the "sounds like a bucket of water behind the dash" sound from the hvac.
