It was originally located on Main Street, but was moved to Howard Street around 1890, where it was photographed in the first view here. But in my opinion, he was a pompous ass, out of touch with the (then) emerging revelations of modern science. Josiah Dwight Whitney was the eldest of 13 children. He was born on November 23, 1819 in Northampton, Massachusetts.
