SpletSwan View Tunnel, Perth. Along one of Perth’s many popular hiking trails sits a disused railway tunnel that has sent chills down the spines of those who pass through it since its opening. You’ll find this dark, damp and lengthy tunnel within the John Forrest National Park, where it has sat since its opening in 1895. SpletSwan View. Swan View derives its name from a railway siding on the Eastern Railway and was suggested as a name by Surveyor F.S. Brockman in 1894. Today, the suburb name is indicative of the fact that views of the Swan Valley can be enjoyed from upper parts of the area. Source: 2011 Census data.
